Doorway to Shangri-La : Leh – Lamayuru – Pangong – Khardong La (6N/ 7D)

Ladakh (“land of high passes”) is a region in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Kuen Lun mountain range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet.

Description

Day 01: ArriveLeh:

You will be met at the airport upon your arrival in Leh. Our representative will then escort you to your pre-booked hotel situated in the central part of the city. The day will be spent in complete rest to acclimatize you in this high altitude region. In the evening you will take a light stroll to the market. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

 

Day 02: Leh to Lamayuru to Ule (160 Kms):

After breakfast drive to Lamayuruenroute ,GurudwaraPathar Sahib. Check in Camp at Alchi or Ule and After Lunch drive to visit the mesmerizing Moon landscapes and the Lamayuru monastery (Oldest Monastery in Ladakh). Overnight stay in the Camp or Hotel.

Day 03: Alchi to Leh (70 Kms):

After breakfast visit Hall of Fame. Arrive at Leh by afternoon. Afternoon free at your leisure.Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 04: Leh to Pangong Lake (160 Kms):

After breakfast leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, through Changla Pass 17,350 ft. (third Highest Motor-able road in the world.) The drive takes about 3-4 hours to reach. The lake is situated on the borders of India and Tibet. The lake is around 120 kms long and 50 kms in width. The lake is home to a large number of migratory and resident birds. Overnight in camp.

Day 05: Pangong Lake to Leh (160 Kms):

After breakfast drive back to Leh, en-route visit Hemis, Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace. These monasteries are built in between the period of 15th and 17th centuries, the monasteries are a living example of the Buddhist teachings .An interesting collection of murals, frescoes and statues can be seen inside the main temples. Overnight in hotel.

Day 06: Leh – Khardungla Pass – Leh:

After breakfast drive for Khardungla Pass, World’s highest motor-able road at 18380 feet (39 Kms. Approx.) Return to Leh in the afternoon. After lunch day at disposal to explore the local markets.( at your own )  Overnight in hotel.

Day 07: Departure:

Early morning by 06:00 hrs you will be transfer to airport to board flight back to your destination.
